“Specialising in landscape painting and based in Stratford Upon Avon, I produce original artwork, experimenting with a range of techniques and processes, working with colour, texture and mark making. Whilst reflecting on first hand experiences of the physical landscapes, I use my intuition to guide the development of my work. My paintings are personal responses to the outer world, inviting the viewer to travel and dream whilst exploring the physicality of the paint and surface”.
Andrew Field is an award-winning artist who has painted all of his life. After graduating from Lancaster University in 2001 and receiving a scholarship for his contribution to the Arts faculty he decided to live for many years in the United Arab Emirates teaching and painting. In that time he had many solo and group exhibitions and over a period of ten years established himself as a recognised artist painting renditions of the landscape of Abu Dhabi, notably Saadiyat Island that is now home to The Louvre, Abu Dhabi. Although he is still represented by galleries in the UAE he has now moved back to the UK and has a studio in Stratford Upon Avon.
Andrew has undertaken many innovative and exciting commissions. Dubai Multi Commodities Centre commissioned Andrew to produce a painting using tea and Indian ink for the 5th Global Dubai Tea Forum at the newly opened Sofitel The Palm, Dubai in 2014. The completed painting measuring seven metres in length is hanging on permanent display in the companies headquarters. Andrew has been commissioned by many corporate and private clients in the Gulf and his work has been selected in recent years for Art Dubai. Andrew's paintings can be found in many Dubai International Financial Centre offices including Goldman Sachs, Standard & Poor's and Brunswick in Abu Dhabi.
Andrew has been interviewed about his work and his art has been featured in Time Out Abu Dhabi, Concierge Magazine as well as The National and Gulf News. A documentary about the making of his commissioned painting for Dubai Multi Commodities Centre was filmed at the Majilis Gallery in Dubai.
In an effort to give back to the community Andrew has supported charities including The Louis Smith Foundation by raising money at auctions from the sale of his work.
His work can be found in both private and corporate collections around the world.
“I start by thinking about my experiences and memories of being immersed in the landscape by watching videos or reviewing sketchbook studies and photos that I have taken. I do have an idea of what type of atmosphere I want to achieve but my paintings always throw up surprises and may suddenly change direction depending on my mood”.
