Robin Leonard born in Buckinghamshire in 1960. A self-taught Artist, painting in Cornwall since 1981.
Focusing on abstractions directly from nature he intuitively interprets his subject. He prefers to work from life, gathering information first hand and painting from a sensory creative place in order to captivate the true essence of his subject.
Painting from a drawing or photograph Is second hand to Robin, though not ruled out.
He grew up in a visually creative household, his father was a news photographer, the first on the scene at the “The Great Train Robbery” and his mother explored oil painting as well as vast and colourful backgrounds for the local theatre. Robin lives in Cornwall on a little known peninsular where the wild coastline is ten minutes walk from his door and is continuously inspired by the vast variety of surrounding landscapes.
His Influences include many of the 19th and 20th century artists however the nature of light falling on the subject is his true inspiration. Robin's work has been exhibited in many British galleries including The Great Atlantic Gallery, Falmouth Art Gallery, and Mall Galleries London.
